Finding an American Revolutionary War Patriot
The best way to begin tracing your lineage to a Revolutionary War Patriot is to contact us—a chapter representative will be happy to assist you in getting started.

Many people are surprised to learn that an ancestor did not have to serve in the military to be recognized as a Patriot. The Daughters of the American Revolution recognizes a variety of qualifying services, including:
-
Civil Service – such as serving in a town, county, or state office
-
Patriotic Service – including taking an oath of allegiance or providing material support like supplies or funds to the Revolutionary cause

Our members are dynamic women who balance everyday commitments with a shared passion for service. Through meaningful work in historic preservation, education, and patriotism, we proudly support the mission of the Daughters of the American Revolution at the chapter, state, and national levels.

We warmly welcome new active members who are eager to make a difference—along with associate members who wish to support and engage with our chapter community.

Finding your Lineage

Becoming a member of the NSDAR offers a meaningful opportunity to honor your heritage by establishing direct lineage to a Patriot of the American Revolutionary War. Applicants must provide documented, lineal descent from an individual who contributed to the cause of American independence.

To verify eligibility, primary source documentation is required for each generation, including records of birth, marriage, and death. These documents must clearly establish the connection between generations. The foundational link begins with the applicant’s birth certificate naming her parents.

Our chapter is here to assist you throughout this rewarding and historically significant process.
